Netflix’s Marvel series introduced the fourth of its Defenders this last week with Danny Rand as the Iron Fist. There are quite a few people that did not enjoy the series apparently, but I’ve found it enjoyable. Granted, I find it kind of ridiculous that I say that it’s enjoyable and then feel the need to qualify that statement. Maybe that’s telling in its own right. So, the qualification is that I’ve enjoyed the series (the season finale is currently paused while I write this) and the weakest part of the show, overall, appears to be the titular character. It isn’t so much that Finn Jones isn’t doing well, he’s fine. It’s more that Danny just feels really whiney throughout and doesn’t have any real direction. It feels like he is just drifting along without any real purpose. We shall see how the Defenders show stacks up in the end.
