As you may be able to tell, I’ve been playing a lot of Batman: Arkham Knight. They really really do want to push you towards using the Batmobile in the game. The problem is that the default controls for said vehicle are horrific. The other problem is that there are Riddler challenges tied specifically to using it. Those challenges could have actually not been as awful as they ended up if they had ended just the tiniest bit sooner than they each did. I was finally able to finish the Batmobile challenges yesterday, and I’m pretty sure that the only thing that they could have done to make the last challenge worse would have been to add birds to it. They somehow would have made that process less tolerable.
Any who, aside from being forced to use something with terrible controls (which, thankfully, can be fixed), the game is pretty good. I found myself wondering about why this game was the first in the series to get an M rating & I assume that it’s due to subject matter. The previous games were around the same level of violence for the most part, but the themes of this one are really heavy. There’s also a lot more internal conflict and subject matter dealing with personal fears that I wouldn’t expect from most T rated games.
On that happy note, I’ll see you guys next week. Hopefully with something more glee inducing.
