287 - Forming the Party pt. 1
Welcome to E3 week. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay for new gaming things. So far, we’ve had the EA Play keynote where my favorite thing was essentially a few seconds of Amy Hennig talking about Star Wars and a brief scene of a guy leaning on a wall that a friend of mine described as “very Uncharted-esque.” I completely agree with him that, in so far as someone leaning up against a wall can look reminiscent of Uncharted, they nailed it and that is a very good thing.
Then there was the Bethesda keynote that had no chance of being as good as last year’s. Todd Howard was only there in video form and no one there could match his stage presence. Then, there’s no way that they could match the hype for announcing a game as big as Fallout 4 was coming out just a couple of months later. Granted, Fallout 4 DLC was my favorite part of this keynote as well. That, and Fallout Shelter updates & the PC version of same. And, yes, I’m sure that Dishonored 2 will be neat... it’s just not my thing and/or I still can’t get over the cognitive dissonance of the abilities that made the game playable making the game world worse. I know that folk loved it & I’m happy for them, but I think that I’ll still sit this one out.
