I finished my NaNoWriMo novel this morning. Well, at least the first 50,000 words of it. It feels really good to have finished this round specifically because the circumstances leading up to the one time that I was not successful were mirrored pretty well here: I had just moved across the country & I was writing a different genre from the previous year. There was also the fact that it wasn’t the story that has been rummaging around inside of my head since I was 19. Two years ago, those factors lead to me not being able to complete my goal. This time, however, I was able to write in the most consistent manner that I have ever accomplished and without anywhere near as much scrambling to get back on task after missing a day or two. I actually was able to stay at least one day ahead despite taking every Friday night off for the entire month. It was really really wonderful.
There is a LOT left to go with this novel, but I am going to slow my writing pace down a bit and just take it as I can.
